Upgrading Beats Starting From Zero

Building something entirely from scratch eats time. Taking a product that already works and extending it gives you a foundation, and progress comes much faster.

There is also a certain satisfaction in it. A good off the shelf item becomes something specific to your own home, one deliberate change at a time.

That is why most of my projects begin with an existing device rather than an empty workbench.
